Champion Update - UConn Is Really Good

UConn came in and must have said that one player in Zach Edey is not good enough to beat our team - let him get his points, but no one else will score. Because aside from the player of the year having 37 points, the rest of the team scored just 23 points on 9 of 29 shooting (31%). Just as they have done throughout the year, UConn just played a better game beginning to end, and despite a relatively close first half, the Huskies pulled away and left the game in no doubt for their back to back championship run.

Of 85 NCAA tournament winners in history, ESPN put this UConn team as the 29th best overall. However, I think they were afraid to rank them too high this soon, because this team won every game by at least 14 points (Alabama being the closest at 14) which is incredible. Shout out to the best basketball conference in the country, the Big East has won 5 of the last 10 tournaments.

The UConn victory did little to shake up our standings, as Lelia Jim and Rob retained their top spot. In a weird moral victory, Joe Van Note correctly predicted the tiebreaker score of 135 points for the championship game. It does nothing for him in 13th place but just like his Infinite details, it's the little things.

Thank you everyone for playing along, looking forward to sending out next year's sign up for year 2 of the 85 Expansion Bracket!
